Next FarmShare Delivery: August 8, 2012

Our next FarmShare delivery is scheduled for this Wednesday, August 8, 2012

It's peak season for so many fruits and vegetables right now that choosing what to include in this next delivery was not an easy task. I decided on a few perennial FarmShare favorites like sweet corn, cherry tomatoes, and edamame (soybeans) plus eggplant (two varieties, the large purple as well as the sweet, litle "Fairytale" eggplant). Summer's first raspberries (my favorite berry of all) will make their debut and as well as freshly harvested, new potatoes, Swiss chard, sweet candy onions, and the most adorable summer squash of all -- the pattypan.

Additional raspberries are available as an add-on item to any FarmShare order. Our featured bread this time around will be the Siciliano, a semolina bread topped with sesame seeds baked by our friends at The Stone Oven.

My head is already buzzing with the recipe possibilities for all these fantastic ingredients. I'll pack as many as I can into the next edition of the The FarmShare Kitchen newsletter which will accompany your delivery.

Don't forget to stop in and visit the FarmShare Picnic Table at The Wine Spot in Cleveland Heights. We've stocked The Wine Spot cooler with a wonderful selection of locally made artisan cheeses including fresh chèvre from Lucky Penny Creamery and Lake Erie Creamery, cow and sheep's milk cheeses from Kokoborrego Cheese Company, and more. We also stock locally made snacks to accompany the perfect bottle of wine or six-pack of beer for your summer adventures. This weekend's tastings will feature the wines of Washington State (which happens to be my home and a pretty stellar wine-making state to boot). The Wine Spot is located at 2271 Lee Road in Cleveland Heights (just south of the Cedar-Lee theater).

I look forward to seeing you soon!
