Time for a Picnic!

I hope you'll join us this Saturday from 2-5pm at The Wine Spot as we bring a page from the June issue of Edible Cleveland to life at our summer picnic basket tasting.

The winemaker from Trebets Estate Wines located in Ohio's Grand River Valley will be on hand for a tasting of their 2010 Muddy Paw Semillon. We'll also be sampling locally made picnic fare including some of the Ohio artisan cheeses, breads, fresh berries, snacks, and sweets highlighted in my article, Picnic Perfect.

Noelle Celeste and Jon Benedict, publishers of Edible Cleveland will also be on hand (with copies of their delicious new magazine, of course).

The tasting fee is $10. You can reserve a spot by calling The Wine Spot at 216.342.3623. You can also just drop in and pack a picnic of your own if you'd like.

There isn't a better time for a picnic. The sun is shining on Northeast Ohio and the temperature is bearable once again. Need another excuse? Saturday is Bastille Day! So, whether you're a locavore or Francophile (or both, like me) you have every reason to pack a basket with "une bouteille de vin et fromage de pays". We all know the best place to enjoy a summer afternoon is perched on a blanket with a taste of the local terroir close at hand. (And hey, it's just as tasty and much more affordable than flying to France!)

A bientôt mes amis!

The Wine Spot is located at 2271 Lee Road in Cleveland Heights.

PS: True Francophiles can get a head start on your Bastille Day celebrations at The Wine Spot's French wine tasting on Friday, July 13 from 6-8pm.
