We've partnered with our Cleveland Heights neighbors, Adam & Sue Fleischer at The Wine Spot, to offer a seasonal selection of Ohio artisan cheeses, locally made crackers, honey, chips, salsas, fruit preserves, and more -- all for your summer picnicking pleasure.
Our cheese selections will rotate every few weeks so we can introduce you to the true cream of the Ohio crop. Our current picks were selected to partner perfectly with The Wine Spot's summer wine and beer offerings.
Seasonal Cheese Offerings at The Wines Spot:
Bloomfield: A bloomy rind camembert style cheese made by Mayfield Road Creamery in Orwell, Ohio. Perfect with early summer strawberries.
Headwaters Tomme: A slightly sharp, aged, cow's milk cheese made by Kokoborrego Cheese Company in Mount Gilead, Ohio.
Owl Creek Tomme: Also from Kokoborrego Cheese Company, a mellow-flavored, aged, raw sheep's milk cheese.
Charloe: A washed-rind cheese made from grass-fed cow's milk made by Canal Junction Farmstead Cheese located in Definance, Ohio. Good Food Award winner in 2011.
Flat Rock: A French-style mountain cheese also from Canal Junction.
Wabash Erie Canal: Canal Junction's gruyere-style cow's milk cheese aged 4-6 months.
Black Swamp Gouda: A mellow, creamy gouda-style cheese from Canal Junction named for Northwest Ohio's Great Black Swamp.
Burr Oak: Canal Junction's Parmigiano-style, aged, cow's milk cheese. Perfect for grating or eating. We like to enjoy this one with a drizzle of raw Ohio honey. This cheese is only made twice each year, in May and September.
Stop in soon and pack the perfect local picnic basket for upcoming events like Wade Oval Wednesdays which kick off next week on June 13.
